Construction of Kitchen and Dining Facilities at Sri Aurobindo Divine Life Education Centre, Jhunjhunu

A CSR initiative to build modern kitchen and dining facilities at SADLEC, ensuring pure sattvic food, hygiene, and community living for holistic education.

Description

The proposed project focuses on constructing kitchen and dining infrastructure at Sri Aurobindo Divine Life Education Centre (SADLEC), Jhunjhunu — a unit of Sri Aurobindo Divine Life Trust (SADLT). The Centre follows the Integral Education system inspired by Sri Aurobindo and Mother, emphasizing complete development — physical, mental, vital, psychic, and spiritual.

Food forms a central part of this education, influencing health, discipline, and inner growth. At SADLEC, only pure organic and sattvic food is prepared by spiritual aspirants, ensuring that meals are both nourishing and spiritually uplifting. However, the existing kitchen and dining facilities are inadequate for the current and expanding student population.

The project aims to construct new kitchen and dining halls equipped with hygienic cooking areas, storage, washing zones, cold rooms, lifts, and proper ventilation. This facility will support 350+ students and staff, improving food safety, community interaction, and student participation in “kitchen activity” as a part of their practical learning.

The initiative seeks CSR support of ?4.52 crores, aligning with Schedule VII (i) – Promoting Healthcare & Eradicating Malnutrition and (ii) – Promoting Education, contributing to SDG 3 (Good Health & Well-being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education).

The project will create a lasting impact by ensuring nutritious meals, supporting health and discipline, and fostering an atmosphere of service, purity, and harmony — essential to Sri Aurobindo’s vision of integral human development.

Problem Statement

The current food preparation and dining spaces at SADLEC are insufficient to maintain hygiene and accommodate the growing number of students. Preparing sattvic, organic food requires specialized infrastructure, including cold storage, proper flooring, equipment, and ventilation systems. The absence of a modern kitchen setup restricts meal quality, hygiene, and the holistic experience of community dining central to Integral Education. This project will bridge the gap by creating a sustainable and spiritually conducive kitchen and dining facility, ensuring healthy nutrition and collective well-being for all residents.

Project Goal

This project will accomplish these additional goals

To establish a modern, eco-friendly kitchen and dining facility that supports the preparation and serving of organic sattvic food, fostering physical health, discipline, and spiritual harmony among students and staff.

The project seeks CSR funding of ?4.52 crores for constructing and equipping kitchen and dining facilities at SADLEC, Jhunjhunu.

It ensures hygienic, sattvic food for 350+ students, promoting health, harmony, and integral development.
