Description

Main focus of this project is to feed the hungry and provide nutritional supplements to the poorest section of the society especially to the aged, children and women. Through this small initiative of our organisation every day hundreds of people belongs to the various section of the society get the enough food for life, whether a rickshaw puller or a beggar women or a street children everyone gets the enough food for him/herself. We have a target to make a hunger free society in our neighbourhood and cover across ten KM circle of the temple.

Food for Life prides itself on the quality of food we serve. Not only is the food healthy for the body, but we strongly believe it is spiritually nourishing as well. How so? Because all food prepared by our trained volunteers is done with the conviction that food is a conveyor of the most subtle energy – our thoughts and feelings, and is, therefore, a conduit for expressing our sincere love and concern for the people we serve. Furthermore, since all food is a gift from the earth, it is imperative that our head cooks first make an offering of the meal to God before it is served to the public. The thought energy that goes into a meal is just as important as the physical ingredients. Food for Life volunteers do not even taste the food they prepare, but ratherly on intuitive cooking, so that the meals are made without even a tinge of selfish motivation.

Problem Statement

Millions of people face food insecurity due to a combination of factors, including poverty, inequality, lack of access to education and resources, and issues related to agricultural production and distribution. Poverty and inequality contribute to limited access to food, while challenges in agricultural production and distribution can lead to food shortages in certain regions.

Mega Kitchen

Given the pandemic scenario & its subsequent impact on the everyday life of needy & underprivileged people of society (such as children, women, elderly & daily wage labourers etc.), the need for the provision of quality & nutritious food is quite imperative. In this direction, ISKCON, Ghaziabad (Raj Nagar) has been doing its part. So far, ISKCON, Ghaziabad (Raj Nagar) has served more than 1.5 Crores meal packet, through its existing Temple kitchen, during the previous & ongoing pandemic period. But the demand for such meal packets is constantly increasing among the beneficiaries.  So, with the intent to cater to the nutritional food needs among the growing number of beneficiaries, ISKCON temple aspires to set up a much bigger Community kitchen, which will be part of New ISKCON temple at Sector 5, Wave City NH 24.
