BENCHES FOR UNDEPRIVILIGED SCHOOL AT DAHISAR

Description

Education is one of the most critical aspects of human life, and it plays a significant role in the overall development of society. However, the quality of education is dependent on the infrastructure and facilities provided to the students. Research studies such as "Improving School Infrastructure for Enhanced Learning Outcomes in Developing Countries" by Chakrabarti and Roy (2017) suggest that proper infrastructure is essential for providing quality education to students.

In Mumbai, the infrastructure quality in government schools has been a topic of concern for many years. According to a survey conducted by the National Sample Survey Organization (NSSO) in 2014, around 26% of schools in Maharashtra have inadequate infrastructure, and only 40% of schools have functional toilets. The situation is not different for Subedar Ramhi Vidayalaya Ketkipada. The school is struggling with poor infrastructure, and it is affecting the quality of education that they can provide to their students.

The school has a total of 250 students and 12 teachers, but they only have 150 benches available. Each classroom has 30 benches, but there are 50 students in one classroom, which means only half of the students can sit during the lectures. This situation creates a significant problem for the teachers and students. Teachers are not able to conduct classes effectively, and students are not able to focus on their studies due to discomfort.

To solve this problem, Suryodaya Seva Sanstha has decided to set up 80 benches for students at Subedar Ramhi Vidayalaya Ketkipada. The cost of each bench is Rs. 2400, and the total project cost is Rs. 2 lakhs.
