UDAAN - Give Her Wings To Fly

On the occasion of Menstrual Hygiene Day on 28th May 2022 Yatan continues it's campaign Udaan - Give Her Wings To Fly, which was initiated in 2019 .

Description

In rural areas, most girls rely on homemade sanitary solutions such as filling up old socks with sand and tying them around the waist to absorb menstrual blood or taking old pieces of cloth and using them to absorb the menstrual blood. These pieces of cloth are washed and dried inside the house without exposure to sunlight due to the stigma attached to menstruation. These processes are unhygienic and unsanitary, increasing the chances of infection and hindering their day-to-day activities. Lack of menstrual hygiene materials also leads to school dropouts.

Our Proposed Solution: Is to provide reusable sanitary napkins to underprivileged women & girls. Each kit is unique as it contains 4 reusable sanitary napkins. The napkins will last 2 years, are environment-friendly, hygienic, easy to store, and most importantly cost-effective.

Each set of 4 pads costs Rs. 300. During this Menstrual Hygiene Day, we plan to provide menstrual hygiene materials to 1000 women and girls.
