Vision Rehabilitation Therapy - a unique approach based on the principles of plasticity of the brain and the age appropriate vision development process. It involves three steps namely; vision stimulation, visual efficiency and vision utilization.
Description
Muskan Foundation offers services to children (age group 0-18), with Multiple Disabilities & Visual Impairment (MDVI) including Special Education and Therapy -maintaining a 1:3 teacher-child ratio. Providing comprehensive services under one roof, we also provide 1:1 teacher-child service in cases of severe disability. Our Muskan Centers play an important role in improving the quality of life of these children and ensuring that they are able to reach their maximum potential - through a correct combination of Special Education, Therapy and Family support.
For the overall development of the child and to overcome a variety of physical, sensory and emotional challenges, a variety of therapies are needed. The apt therapy is selected and used in a complementary way with special education.

Problem Statement
Providing special education and therapies being focus to our work, sustainability to our organisation is primarily the ability to sustain a program once initiated and proved effective. For any desired outcome to be achieved in terms of learning that a special educational program, it would have to run for 2 to 3 years for one batch of children. Further when we seek long-term impact, we know from experience of our early work with parents that a prolonged effort is needed to bring that kind of change.
Being an NGO, we are totally dependent on donations. We have a team who is involved in fundraising for Muskan Foundation. We take minimal fees for Special Education and therapies depending on the financial condition of the parents ranging from Rs.500 to Rs.700 per month. To assess the financial condition, we ask for salary slips and also conduct home visits. We check the total number of dependent members in the family and decide the fees for special education.
Project Goal
This project will accomplish these additional goals
Vision Rehabilitation Therapy
Children are referred to Muskan Foundation for different therapies. In the first visit, therapist fills up the Intake Information form and assessment form for the impairment. Therapist conducts the assessment and notes down all the details. The parents are explained the problem, how therapy will help the child, number of sessions required, fees for the therapy. If the child requires other therapies, then the child is referred to other therapists within Muskan Foundation for an assessment.
