1. Introduction
The "Wings Fly High Initiative" is a project operated by the Sahyadri Foundation, focusing on providing computer literacy to students in Nagpur Municipal Corporation Schools. This innovative initiative employs a Mobile Vocational Education (MoVE) van, which functions as a fully equipped classroom on wheels. The van is furnished with state-of-the-art technology, offering computer skills training to students while ensuring a conducive learning environment. This concept note outlines the key components and objectives of the project.
2. Project Description
2.1. Mobile Vocational Education (MoVE) Van
The project's core component is the specialized MoVE van, which serves as a mobile classroom equipped with the following amenities:
- 10 laptops
- Projector
- Wi-Fi
- Audio-visual facilities
- E-learning resources
- Camera
- 5KV generator
- Laptop charging points
- Fire extinguisher
- Waste bin
- Internal lighting
- Waterproof plywood panels
- Anti-skid vinyl flooring
- Fan and window ventilation
- Water dispenser
- Computer tables and benches
The MoVE van can accommodate up to 18 students at one time. In this van, three sessions are conducted, reaching out to 54 students, and it is designed to offer a modern and technologically advanced learning environment.
2.2. Target Audience
The project aims to reintegrate children aged 6 to 14 who have either dropped out of school or are not currently attending school. The primary focus is on reaching out to these children, encouraging them to resume their education, and strengthening their foundational knowledge and skills.
3. Objectives
The key objectives of the Wings Fly High Initiative are as follows:
3.1. Reintegration of Out-of-School Children
To encourage and support children aged 6 to 14 who have dropped out of school or are not currently attending to reintegrate into the educational system.
3.2. Community Awareness
To foster awareness within the community about the critical importance of education and motivate both youth and parents to actively participate in the process of enrolling children in schools.
3.3. Addressing Dropout Rates
To address the underlying reasons for dropout rates by conducting awareness campaigns and engaging with families. This will help parents understand the long-term benefits of education for their children's future.
4. Beneficiaries
The project aims to impact a total of 54 beneficiaries within the targeted age group. These beneficiaries will receive support and guidance to reintegrate into the educational system, creating opportunities for them to access a brighter and more promising future.
5. Project Timeline and Long-Term Sustainability
The project was inaugurated in 2022 and aims to continue for the long term, ensuring a large number of students can avail of its facilities and get acquainted with using computers and the internet. To enhance the efficiency of the program, the project seeks funding to recruit more staff and increase its capacity to serve the community effectively.
